The present popular theory about Savants,
people with extraordinary skills, is not that they have something
we do not, but that they can access directly a part of the brain
that is otherwise blocked by our conditioning.
I have met and known several people who have had accidents
and awakened to such levels of consciousness.
(Two of them had fell off their horses.)
I think this is what I am meaning by: The Something Else.
It feels as though there is another reality right here with us,
in each moment.
What I seem to have have realised – up to now – is that the more
what we could call ‘everyday experiences I have had, the closer
I feel to The Something Else. Like, anything I have wanted to do;
anywhere I have wanted to go; anyone I have wanted to meet.
Then, something seems to have been ‘taken care of’ and space is
revealed for, whatever else there is.
It has meant a lot of ‘not holding.’
Not so easy when something is working extraordinary well,
and I have not found another way – not holding.

Some quotes from Dr Snyder:
”And yet here, we have a group of people without a bigger or better brain
than we do, just a different one, able to do these extraordinary things.”
”We look at the world through filters, through our mindsets, which are
carefully evolved to be able to manoeuvre rapidly in our world,”
”Our brains are deliberately designed not to have access to peculiar
skills,
which in some instances are advantageous but mostly are bizarre,”
”I had a radical idea that these skills must be latent within everyone,”
”It’s just that unlike savants, we don’t have access to them.
”We have the same memory power as savants do, their brains aren’t bigger
or better than ours. It’s just more of our memory is devoted to conceptual
detail,
and more of theirs is devoted to literal details.”
”Opening the doors of perception to be able to look at the world without
prejudice, just for a moment, would be of enormous value,”
