It is hard to realise isn’t it – that what you say to someone may not be
what they understand you to say.
You say one thing, and they not only hear something different, but assume
they are understanding what you have said. Happens a lot.
In the groups I sometimes used to suggest the person repeat
what they had heard. Often, very revealing.
I still have something floating around to share, and when I go to do so
I cannot imagine it connecting in the way intended. In fact, with the new
level that is coming to share, it is not possible to understand.
Even though I know what is being said, even I do not ‘understand’ it.
And some of you may. Just don’t assume that what you think I am saying
is what I am attempting to share.
It is about what is called ‘The Placebo Effect’ – producing the result
you thought was supposed to happen.
Lots of studies in the pharmaceutical field – some patients being given
the drug, and others given plain sugar pills.
Often as many people get cured who get the sugar pill
as those who get the drug. The placebo effect was even stronger
when the doctor giving the pills did not know which were which as well –
indicating even the doctors expectancy influenced the outcome.
My favourite is the one where two surgeons experimented with giving knee
surgery. Some they did the full surgery; some they made an incision, but
no surgery; and some they told the patient it was not serious and would heal on its
own. Many patients who previously could not walk properly, healed completely –
without having the actual surgery.
See what I am attempting to share? If what we think influences outcome,
everything we think could be influencing all outcome. That is how I see it.
When we were in San Francisco in the sixties there were workshops based on
this. Not easy. First step was to get absolutely clear what you want.
Easy? Try it. Sit down down and focus your mind on getting $10,000.
Watch that mind wander.
Next step is to decide exactly what you would do with the money. Exactly.
Next, just assume that it is going to happen. Next, assume it has happened.
Manifesting. A few people can, and do it consciously, and most do
unconsciously – but not in a positive way! It could be that, what you think is what you
get.
Then we have the subject of interference – which assumes you not are
getting what you need, so you try to manifest what you want. Not recommended!
Lots and lots more on this subject. This for now.
Sit with it – every single thought manifests itself.
Complaint begets things to complain about;
gratefulness makes space – for more to be grateful about.
Thoughts can be seen as seeds, and: “As ye sow, so ye shall reap.”
