Life is moving, shifting, evolving – don’t try to hold on to anything.
Transcript:
We were just playing about and joking. And the phrase, the Sufi phrase, “Life is a bridge. Don’t build a house on it.” we came up with an alternative that says, “Relationship is a prison, don’t take out a mortgage on it.”
But more seriously or semi-seriously anyway, life is a bridge. Don’t build a house on it.
If you want to think in terms of anything, think in terms of stepping stones. If you want to cross the river and there are stepping stones, you step on one step and that has taken you to a certain point. But you don’t get attached to the step. You’re grateful that it was there, but you move on to the next one. You don’t take it with you. You leave it behind. Grateful for the step, and then you take a next one.
So maybe life is a series of stepping stones. Take the step, be total. And you’ll find the next step reveals itself all on its own. If you’re not holding, you’re free to keep moving. So wherever you are, be total. And if you remain unconditional, if there’s another step for you, it will reveal itself, and you’ll find yourself just going there and being there.
