Eckhart Tolle: How do we break the habit of excessive thinking?

That lovely video of Eckhart Tolle just sent –
answering a question on stopping the mind –
seems he is in a lovely state.
And here is another aspect.
Wanting to stop the mind – although perfectly understandable –
it is a desire.
“The Great Way is not difficult for those who have no preferences.”
Sosan.
Seems it is so easy to slip into ‘wanting’ – even wanting not to want!
Not only is that a desire not to be how we are, in this very moment,
but having a restricted level of consciousness, we do not know what
we really need.
That we are addicted to thinking – no doubt eh, and, if it is happening,
then it is happening. “Be with what is.”
So easy to be against the mind –
yet if we did not have it we would be dead – as a human anyway.
Suggested experiment.
Just be with what is – including the mind. Embrace.
Then, if the mind is not thinking anything that is appropriate to the
moment just gently slip back into what is, in this moment.
Not so easy is it. Lots of aspects. The mind is designed that way,
and we have been living that way for a very long time.
So if you would like to be in more balance with the mind
it is going to take practice – a lot of practice – total devotion –
or/and attending a Satori group!
