We have the so-called spiritual, the material, and…?
Zen story.
Two monks were arguing.
One was saying the rock was on the outside,
the other monk was saying all is illusion,
and the rock was just in the mind.
The Zen master came along and said to him:
“Your head must be very heavy!”
Theory, and practical.
I once knew a person who declared all was illusion, but when he got put in
prison for breaking the law he was not at all happy about his ‘illusion.’
I have even heard of avowed Atheists who, finding themselves in a life and
death situation, hear themselves praying (pleading) to a God they had
professed not to believe in.
No matter how much you believe that everything is illusion, when you bang
your shin, it hurts. The hurt may be an illusion also, but if it hurts
enough, not easy to hold on to the idea of Maya.
Talking about it is one thing; living it is another.
Arab saying:
“Trust in God – and secure your Camel.”
